Happy New Year! Practice resumes the regular schedule on Tuesday, 1/6 @ 6PM @ Chatfield. (Tue., Thur., advanced on Fri. all from 6-7:30PM) Please also check the tournament schedule. Dual meets with at least Bear Creek and Columbine this month. We are discussing some additional options for advanced practice. Look for more info soon. The Tournament @ Chatfield was a huge success! Thanks to all! The end of the "regular" season is a little over a month away. The Clifford Haynes Memorial League Championship is February 8th @ Chaparral. This tournament is for all wrestlers (no need to qualify), but does not have a novice division. I encourage novices who have done well to enter this tournament, and would like all available to make a point to attend, even if not wrestling. There is a "parade of teams," ceremony, etc. All wrestlers who attend will receive a t-shirt. This tournament is subsidized by the team (partially paid for), making the entry fee less than half that of other tournaments. We can order additional t-shirts for those interested @ $7 each ($8 for adult XXL and XXXL) The Youth (all ages) State tournament is March 1st, Nationals is March 20th-22nd, and Middle school State (6th- 8th grade, divided only by weight) tournament starts on March 28th. These tournaments are recommended for those who placed in the top 4 @ the League Championship, but any are welcome, and no qualifying is necessary. Let me know if you plan to attend. I can get you more info, or it is available at the link below. We will be having merged practices with Columbine, and probably a different schedule after 2/8. As always, all registered wrestlers are welcome, and encouraged to attend these practices, even if not attending the tournaments after League. (More practice, advanced technique, wrestle with the top wrestlers) We are discussing a Freestyle team. The Freestyle wrestling season runs from April thru June or July. This team would not be affiliated with Chatfield, but I would be one of the coaches. We would draw from all schools in our area, and practice @ "The Rock" MMA club at Hampden and Wadsworth (schedule TBD). MMA, Thai Kickboxing, Brazillian Ju Jitsu, and classic Kenpo would also be available. Let me know if you are interested, or want more info. New coaches and "mom helpers" are always welcome and needed.
See you soon!
